He went by his middle name, Howard. He served for five years in the
R.C.A.F. He was general manager of the Medical Services Inc. Later he worked
for the Federal Government, On retirement he worked on the Shillington Geneology.
He made a major contribution to our understanding of the Shillington Family
and its genealogy by researching the history of the family in England.
His obituary read:
SHILLINGTON, C. Howard _ Sadly, the family of Howard Shillington
wishes to announce his peaceful passing on December 26, 2002 in Vancouver
BC in his 92nd year. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years,
Eveline, in 1996. Dearly missed by his children, Shirley (Roger) Vick of
Edmonton, Bill (Carol Ann) of West Vancouver, Alan (Carole) of Cambridge
and Donna (Carl) Jensen of Calgary. Devoted grandfather of Susan, Bob, Ron,
James, Craig, Todd, Sheryle, Victoria, and Scott and nine great-grandchildren.
Fondly remembered by his brothers Lyle and Gordon of Saskatoon and Buster
of Prince Albert. Predeceased by his brothers Norman and Donald and sister
Patricia Berrns. After growing up in Saskatchewan, including service in WWII
with the RCAF where he was ''Mentioned in Dispatches'', he moved to Toronto
where he had a successful career in the health insurance field. This culminated
in the writing of his first book ''The Road To Medicare in Canada''. He retired
to Keswick and then to West Vancouver where he continued to pursue his
passion for writing and the active seniors life. A memorial service and
interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon
