291.  RAYMOND WHITNEY7 KERFOOT (RICHARD W.6, WILLIAM5, GEORGE4, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 22 August 1892 in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A..  He married CHRISTINA A. MCMILLAN 23 October 1923 in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.. 

Notes for RAYMOND WHITNEY KERFOOT:
After his father's early death and his mother's remarriage, he was raised by his maternal grandmother, 'Aunt Debbie'.  He servd in World War I with the United States Air Service. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieut., acting as a flying aerial observer until demoblization. Armistice was signed two weeks before he was to be posted overseas. He graduated from Kansas Uiversity as an Achitectural Engineer in 1922 and since that time Raymond has lived in the State of Washington, working continuously at civil, structural and architectural engineering. As of 1953 he was a General Engineer with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation at Grand Coulee Dam, having been there since 1934 when construction actualy started. He took part in the complete building of the city of Longview, Washington.  and its lumber, paper mills,  the world's third largest cantilever bridge at Longview, Washington and the first damn accross the Columbia River, the Rock Island Dam near Wenatchee, Washington. These projects, all on the Columbia River accounted for about 25 years of his life. He did other lesser engineering work on land development, architecture, highways, parks, reservoirs, and bridges in Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas, Oregon and Washington. As of 1953 he had been transfered to Walla Walla District where he was Supervising Engineer with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. At that date the family was living at 1851 Carl St., Walla Walla Washington, U.S.A

She was a second cousin of Donald McMillan, the Arctic explorer.

Notes for DONALD MCMILLAN KERFOOT:
After graduating from high school he served in the U.S. Air Corps amnd was served overseas. He was there as part of the occupation forces. On returning he completed an art and teaching course at Eastern Washington College. While at the college he was on the swimming team and the skiiing team.

After graduating from high school he served in the Air Corps. After the war he worked in civil  engineering and construction.

294.  EMMA J.7 CRAIG (SAMUEL6, ELIZA5 SMITH, ANN4 KERFOOT, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 30 October 1868 in North Gower, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada, and died 8 June 1952 in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada.  She married FOSTER OLMSTEAD 18 December 1889 in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada.  He was born 13 December 1863 in Nepean, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada, and died 30 August 1950 in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada.

Notes for EMMA J. CRAIG:
She was the oldest of five children who had accompanied their parents to take up a homestead in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada. They lived in that community all their lives. On Emma's death a cousin paid the following tribute to this couple: "Emman and Foster were a wonderful couple--just plain good".

After their marriage they lived on a dairy farm on the outskirts of Ottawa. In the early 50's the farm was annexed to the City of Ottawa.

Notes for STANLEY KERFOOT JOHNSTON:
On Aug 14, 1938 the couple adopted two children, two year old William John and Gaylene Jane, a baby. Stanely had been principal of a school at Plato, Saskatchewan. On the retirement of his father,  he was appointed postmaster at Rouleau, Saskatchewan, a post he still held in 1953.

307.  HAROLD SOUTHAM7 JOHNSTON (WILLIAM H.6, SARAH5 KERFOOT, GEORGE4, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 20 September 1902 in Rouleau, Saskatchewan, Canada.  He married MAE EVELYN DAWSON 25 June 1935 in Little Church Around the Corner, New York, N.Y. U.S.A..  She was born in Toronto.

Notes for HAROLD SOUTHAM JOHNSTON:
After graduating from High schol in Rouleau, Saskatchewan he studied for two years at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts with special training under Carey Orr, a noted cartoonist with the Chicago Tribune.  Following this he served as staff artist and cartoonist with the Regina Daily Starr and later on the staff of the Globe and Mail in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He then attended the Hamilton Training School for Techinical Teachers and in 1939 joined the staff of the Ottawa Techinical High School where he has taught Commerial and Fine Art. As of 1953 he was in charge of the Art Department at that same school and the couple lived at 402 Holland Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario.

At the time of their marriage, Clifford F. Phillips operated a store at Kyle Saskatchewan. As of 1953 they lived 168 W. Main Street,  Welland, Ontario. Phillips was a purchasing agent for United Steels of Welland , Ontario, Canada. At the time of their marriage Clifford was a widower with two small children, Warren and Helen. As of 1953 Warren is an electrician in Welland and was unmarried. Helen was married to Stuart Mills of St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada and was the mother of a two year ld girl, Sharon.

The  company magazine provided the following description of him "A familiar and popular personality around the Company is BiIl Kerfoot, active M.C. of the Men's and Women's Glee CLubs and a favorite as Santa Claus at the Chirstmas party.
