I grew up in Minesing and often heard about the Kerfoot family,
although
they were all gone before my time.
Harold Kerfoot b.1875, son of Thomas & Emma Kerfoot,
was in partnership with my grandfather George G. Johnston. They
owned a
Basket Factory (made wooden baskets for meat) in Minesing, until
Harold
went to BC in 1911.
There is a short section on the Kerfoots in "History of Vespra"
book. One
note say that Emma bought Harold size 11 boots for $0.90
I also know that there is a Kerfoot name on the cornerstone of the
United
Church in Minesing.
Others in my family still live in Minesing. My brother & father
farm near
one of the Kerfoot farms .
The History of Vespra tell us that the Basket Factory was started by
Charles W Ward of Oakville in 1897. In 1905 Harold Kerfoot in partnership
