He married HARRIET F. MACDONALD 12 April 1919 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was born 4 September 1896 in Ferona, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
She attended Ontario Ladies College when Dr. J. J. Hare was at the head of the college. He was a cousin of Lydia ALCOCKS through a Shillington connection which also linked them with the Kerfoots. The connection was through Ann Nancy Shillington (no 5, Shillington family tree), a sister of John and James Shillington who married Thomas BROWNLEE; her sister married Robert Hare, from whom J.J.Hare was evidently descended. Mary Brownlee, a daughter of Thomas Brownlee, married William Kerfoot. Hence the Kerfoot descendants are related to the Hares.

Notes for VELMA MCFARLANE:
The couple farmed for a time near Gainsboro, Sastatchewan, Canada. Then they purchased a farm near Carnduff, Saskatchewan, Canada which they were still operating in 1953. Both Richard Clifford Shillington and Velma McFarlane appear elsewhere in this genealogy as descendants of Ann Kerfoot. Velma was an excellent pianist and vocalist who contributed much to the musical life of the committees in which she lived.
Notes for ROBERT CLIFFORD SHILLINGTON:
He went by the name of Clifford. With his parents he moved from Manitoba to the Elmore District in 1902. From there he farmed with his parents until their retirement to Winnipeg in 1926. Clifford and Velma continued to farm there until 1943 when they sold the farm. After two years they bought land at Carnduff in 1946. As of 1953 they lived in the town of Carnduff and farmed the land. Together with his brothers Harold and Vernie who also live in Carnduff, they are musical and passed on their love of music and talent to their children.

Notes for JOHN TOZELAND SHILLINGTON:
He was educated at the Ottawa Collegiate Institute, McGill University and Osgood Hall (Law College), Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Osgood Hall in 1926. He practised law at Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Canada from the time of his graduation in 1926 to joining the army in 1940. There he served for nearly six years achieving the rank of Major. His last service in the Army was as D.A.A. and Q.M.G. of the Canadian Forestry Corp in Scotland. After his discharge he practised law in Brantford, Onto, Canada with his office at 6A Market Street in that city. In 1947 he was awarded a K.C. He was active in civic affairs in Brantford and served as an alderman for two years. In 1949 he was a Conservative candidate in the Federal Election.

She was nicknamed Mina. She was the oldest of four children who went west with their parents in 1882 and farmed in the Snowflake District of Manitoba, Canada. After her marriage she and her husband lived on his farm in the Rosebud District in Manitoba, near Crystal City. Their six children were born there. In 1930 they retired to Pilot Mound where her husband repaired watches. She suffered from a serious case of arthritis in her advanced years.
