Notes for RICHARD W. KERFOOT:
He learned blacksmithing from his brother-in-law, James Morris at Warwick Village, Ontario, Canada. Later he worked in Watford, Ontario, Canada  as a carriage blacksmith until he moved to Detriot to set up his own shop. His skill on high class carriages and cutters was well recognized. He was fond of music and was a good singer, a talent of which he gave freely.

127.  ALBERT E.6 KERFOOT (WILLIAM5, GEORGE4, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 9 May 1864 in Montague Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada, and died 11 December 1944 in Princeton, Florida, U.SA..  He married ALICE ESSEX 29 November 1899.  She was born in London, Ontario. Canada, and died in Princeton, Florida, U.SA..

Notes for ALBERT E. KERFOOT:
As a child of six he had made the long trek westward to Warwick Village with his family.  He left the farm home when he was eighteen and was apprenticed to a carriage maker at Watford, Ontario, Canada. Sometime after completing his apprenticeship he helped some carpenters build a house in Watford. Though this experience he was able to negotiate a contract to build a house for a man in Miami, Florida, then a small village. The contract include his travelling expenses. Thereafter he moved to Mt. Dora in the centre of the state. On November  29, 1899 he traveled to Atlanta, Georgia and married Alice Essex, whom he had met at Detriot, where he had spent a short time with his brother, Richard. Alice was a Canadian who had been born at London, Ontario.  They made their home in Miami, which by that time was undergong rapid expansion. He mde his living building houses during the expansion. In 1904 he took a homestead in the town of Princeton, 25 miles north of Miami. In his seventies he build a house for a daughter and remodelled one for another. He was fond of singing hymns and playing the violin. He spent his last years quietly at home tending his trees and plants.

As of 1953 Annie was a school teacher in the Perrine, FLorida to which she comuted daily from her home in Princeton, Florida.

Notes for MYRTLE KERFOOT:
She graduated from the State College for Women at Tallahassee, Florida. As of 1953 she was a bookkeeper in Lee's Produce, Princeton, Florida. The Kerfoot Familiy History by Winnifred Mair published in 1953  from which much of this information is gleaned,  stated that "she  comes home to spend the evenings with her mother in the home with the big poinsetta tree stretching up to the gables".

128.  ANN JANE6 KERFOOT (WILLIAM5, GEORGE4, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 15 December 1848 in Montague Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada, and died 26 September 1893 in Carberry Plains, Manitoba, Canada.  She married SAMUEL CRAIG 25 December 1867, son of ROBERT CRAIG and ELIZA SMITH.  He was born 27 January 1845 in Carleton County, Ontario, Canada.

Notes for ANN JANE KERFOOT:
After their marriage they lived on his farm in North Gower Tp, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada.  Their first six children were born there. Sometime around 1880, they moved west, travelling by oxen from Portage La Prairie to Carberry Plains. The rest of their children were born there.  The post office of Kerfoot, Manitoba was named after her. The name has changed to Gregg. but as of 1953 the small church in the district still bore her name.

129.  ELIZA A6 FOSTOR (MARY5 KERFOOT, GEORGE4, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 6 March 1841 in Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada, and died 15 June 1927 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  She married ALEX WILLIAMSON 1858 son of Alexander Williamson and Margaret Scott.on September 1, 1858 in Smith Falls, Ontario Canada.  He was born 1 September 1841 in Peterhead,  Scotland, and died 1897 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They lived in Stratford at the same time as Elizabeth's parents James Foster and Mary Kerfoot.

Notes for ELIZA A FOSTOR:
She and her husband lived in Stratford, Ontario for some years and thereafter they movd to 60 Isabelle St, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The family plot in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Ontario has a large stone monument. It bears the name of their two infant babies, Ida and Eva. The rest of the plot hold six members of the foster family, his father, mother, Minnie, George, Deborah and Sarah  Foster Anderson who was buried there in 1943.

The class lists at Central Methodist Church; May 1874 James Foster class leader, Mary Foster, Alex Williamson, James Foster, Mary Foster, John H. Foster, Elizabeth A. Williamson, Deborah Foster, Sarah Foster, Charlotte Brownlee, John Read, Mary Read.

Class 1879  James Foster .. class leader.. James was credited with forming the Sunday School in 1875 as noted in 1845-1945 Book of Central Methodist Church, Stratford.
Members were: Mary, his wife and 4 of their grandchildren Nellie, Minnie, Willie and James Williamson.  1880-81 Deborah and Sarah Foster continue to be listed

The Williamson family moved to Stratford from Smiths Falls between July 1859 and  July 1861 as recorded in the birthplaces of the children on their baptism records.
The Williamson children were all removed from the Stratford church list in Aug. 1879 possibly indicating the family move to Toronto.

1.Mary 'Minnie' E. Williamson, born July 10, 1859 in Smiths Falls, Canada West; died 1906 in Toronto, Ont.- Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  She was unmarried.
2.James A. Williamson, born July 07, 1861 in Stratford ON; died February 23, 1946 in Toronto, Ont. - Mt. Pleasant cemetery.  He was unmarried.
3.William Frederick Williamson, born April 08, 1863 in Stratford ON; died December 18, 1946 in California.
4.Helena ‘Nellie’ Dagmir Williamson, born December 16, 1866 in Stratford ON.  She married T. Charles Jeffers.
-lived at the family home at 60 Isabella St. Toronto where they had spent most of their married lives. As of 1953 she was still living at 60 Isabelle St. Toronto, Ontario, Canada. T. CHARLES JEFFERS: was a distinguished musician who held the degree of Mus B. He taught all branches of music besides serving as organist at Central Methodist Chruch , Toronto and at the old St. Andrew's Church on Jarvis Street.
5.Ida Williamson, born in died infancy-Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Ont.
6.Eva Williamson, born in died infancy-Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Ont.
Ida and Eva Williamson died in infancy and are buried in Avondale Cemetery with their grandparents James Foster and Mary Kerfoot  and with James and Mary's children Minnie, George, Deborah and Sarah Foster Anderson who died in 1943   plot 54L
7.Isabella Williamson, born November 30, 1874.
8.Georgia Williamson, born April 30, 1879 in Stratford, Ontario.  She was unmarried. As of 1953 she was unmarried and resided at 60 Isabelle St. Toronto
9.Cecile K. Williamson, born December 03, 1883 in Toronto, Ont..  She was unmarried. As of 1953 she was unmarried and residing with her two sisters at 60 Isabelle St., Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was a pupil of her uncle T. Charles Jeffers. She obtained a teacher's certificate in piano and an artist's diploma. She taught piano for ten years and always enjoyed playing music.

130.  WILLIAM S.6 FOSTOR (MARY5 KERFOOT, GEORGE4, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 27 December 1842 in Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada, and died 11 May 1936 in Wawanesa, Manitoba1.  He married Margretta W. 'MINNIE' SHIELDS born on August 5, 1955 in Listowel, Ontario, Canada.   and died 25 March 1936 in Wawanesa, Manitoba.

Notes for WILLIAM S. FOSTOR:
After their marriage they lived in Stratford Ontario. Then they moved in 1879 to Toronto, where he went into business in partnership with his brother-in-law Alex Williamson, in the wholesale woollen business. About 11 years later he went West to Wawanesa, Manitoba where he was in the printing busienss and then was postmaster untill his death on May 11, 1936.He never told anyone what the S stood for but MB Vital stats revealed the mystery. He is buried with his wife Margretta W. ‘Minnie’ Shields

Notes for WILLIAM CHARLES FOSTER:
He went by the name of Charles. At the age of nine years he went with his parents to Wawenesa, Manitoba, Canada.  He lived there all his life. On his father's death he took over the post office and held the position until his death. They had one daughter who was born in 1934, and in 1953 was taking a course in X-Ray technology.

135.  DEBORAH SAPHRONIA6 KERFOOT (SAMUEL5, GEORGE4, WILLIAM3, GEORGE2, THOMAS1) was born 22 July 1855 in Thamesford, Ontario, Canada.  She married JAMES IRVING JOHNSTON 27 January 1881 in Emerson, Manitoba, Canada.  He was born 14 April 1843, and died 16 September 1900 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

A letter from Deborah Armanella Kerfoot to  Winifred Mann stated that Deborah Smith Kerfoot (entry no 8.), wife of George Kerfoot demanded that one grandaughter in each family be given her name, Deborah.

He had a men's clothing store in Vancouver, called Johnson and Kerfoot (the latter was a brother-in-law). This was one of the first men's clothing and furnishing stores in Vancouver.

Notes for SAMUEL FLETCHER KERFOOT:
He obtained  an A.H. from Hamline University, Minn, U.S.A. . in 1889  in 1892 and his Bachelor of Dvinity from Drew Theological Seminary, N.J., U.S.A. He was ordained into the M. E. minstry in 1889. His career as an educator and minister was a distiguished one and ended with the presidency of Hamline University from 1912 to his retirement in 1927.

Notes for WILLIAM HEBERT KERFOOT:
He was at one time a telegraph operator. Later he managed a book and stationary store which he bought in 1892. He continued until 1945. During this time he was also interested in and part owner of Smith Falls Casting Company.  In 1947 there was a serious fire  and the business block in which the stationary store was located was destroyed by this fire. The Casting company was also damaged by the fire. He retired from business at that time.  Following the musical tradition of the Kerfoots, he was musical director for many years at Trinity United Church, in Smith Falls.  In 1953 he and his wife travelled to England and the continent. The highlight of the trip was the coronation of Queen Ellizabeth on June 2, 1953. He wondered how many of his descendents would be able to attend a coronation. In addition to Mabel Margaret, there were twins who died in infancy.

All the while her musical education was being continued and in the spring of 1949 she obtained her A.R.C.T from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. Then followed a course from the Toronto Normal School from which she gained her certificate of Primary Specialist. She taught for three years in Kindergarten classes. As of 1943 they were living at 8 Blanchard Road, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

He managed a shoe store until 1942. Then he assisted his brother William H. Kerfoot at the book and stationary store until 1945 when he too retired. He was also a member of Trinity United Church and was a talented bass vocalist. He was a member of the Choir for 52 years.

Notes for DEBORAH ARMANELLA KERFOOT:
She made the long trek with her family from Beckwith Township to Warwick Tp, Lambton Co. in 1869. A few years later they moved to Iowa . Thereafter they moved to Dayton, Wellington Co and finally to North Dakota where they were pioneers.  Their three children were forn there . In 1916 they sold the farm and moved to St. Paul, Minn., U.S.A. Six years later they joined Armanella's brother in Ontario, California, U.S.A.. The following is a letter to Winnifred Mair from Armanella:
"My husband's grandfather used to preach in my grandfather's house. My father did not remember --I don't know if he was born then, as I have only Uncle James Foster's letter telling me--he was sixteen years old at the time. So the service would be in the old log house my father was born in, and I remember seeing it once when four and one-half years old or so--same farm I was born on."

Notes for B. LOUISE FOSTER:
As a young girl, after her mother's death, she went to live at the home of a cousin, Richard Kerfoot of Smith Falls. She attended High School there and Queen's University graduating in 1914. Then she atended Normal School at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Then she taught for four years  in that province before she went to West China as a missionary under the former Methodist Church in 1918. All her work from that time until her final return to Canada in 1950 had been in  Cheentu, capital city of the Province of Szechuan. All her work had been in Methodist Union Institutions where various missions co-operate; Union Normal School, Women's College of the West China,  Union University and the Union Theorlogical COllege. In the latter two, besides serving on the teaching staff she was Dean of Women for many years. She experienced the "liberation" of the city by the communists in 1949 and remained for one more year, leaving her Chinese friends behind the bamboo curtain which in her words was "just as effective as iron". As of 1953 she was retired, living at 1623 Robson St., Vancouver, B.C.

The following obituary was in the Welland Newspaper:

" Retired Secretary- Administrator of the Welland Board of Education passed away, December 27, 1950.  Mr Teskey had held this post since 1942 and was forced to retire on account of ill-health. A member of the Institute of Accredited Public Accountants, Mr Teskey was a valued member of the School Business Officials Association of Ontario in which he was keenly interested. He was a native of Welland and in his youth he was for a time a newspaperman with the old Welland Telegraph. His widow is now living in Welland, Ontario".

His obituary was written by  Gwen Phillips, a third year student at Welland HIgh School. She was editor of the school paper at the time. It was not until the material was organized for this genealogy in 1953 that Ms. Phillips realized she was related to Mr. Teskey.  For more about Ms. Phillips, see below.
